Dr. Laila R. Razouk - President and CEO:

Laila is the former President of Fantasma Networks, a wireless UWB startup company. Dr. Razouk spent most of her career at AMD. Her last position at AMD was Vice President and General Manager of the Network Products Division where she was running a profitable growing business of over $200M revenue. She was responsible for the P&L, the strategic direction, the operation, the marketing, the manufacturing, and the development of all aspects of system, software and chip design. Dr. Razouk had joined AMD in 1977 as a design engineer when AMD was still a small company with yearly sales of $62 million. She started several innovative successful businesses at AMD, and progressed in her career to become one out of four General Managers. She managed and introduced to market many Ethernet and Memory products that became industry standard products. Laila received her Ph.D. in 1977 and her MSEE in 1974, from the School of Electrical Engineering, Purdue University, and her BSEE degree from Cairo University, Egypt, in 1971. She received the Outstanding Electrical Engineer Award from Purdue in 1998 and is a member of Purdue University Engineering Visiting Committee, the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, the Society of Women Engineers, and the Forum for Women Entrepreneurs.


Dr. Rashid Bashir Vice President of Development

Rashid received his PhD in 1992 and then worked at National Semiconductor Corporation for 6 years as Sr. Engineering Manager. His group developed high voltage analog, mixed signal and BiCMOS process technologies currently in production at National. He joined Purdue University in 1998 and was promoted and tenured in 2000. He has authored or co-authored over 100 journal and conference papers, has 27 issued patents and another 6 pending. His research interests include BioMEMS, Nanobiotechnology, micro and nano-electronics and advanced fabrication techniques. He has received the NSF Faculty Early Career Award for his work in nanobiotechnology.


Dr. Michael R. Ladisch, Distinguished Professor, Purdue University

Michael is Director of the Laboratory of Renewable Resources Engineering, Distinguished Professor in the Agricultural and Biological Engineering Department and in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Purdue University. He is also member of the National Academy of Engineering and fellow of American Institute of Medical and Biological Engineers. Dr. Ladisch’s research addresses fundamental topics in bioseparations (chromatography, electrochromatography), bio-nanotechnology (protein biochips, proteins at surfaces, biomimetics), and bioprocessing of renewable resources. His work has resulted in a textbook (Bioseparations Engineering: Principles, Practice, and Economics, Wiley, 2001), 150 publications, 14 patents (issued and applied for), and over 100 papers at national professional society meetings. He is also an active consultant to the biotechnology industry.
